A longtime friend to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said on Saturday afternoon that the next person to step into the cabinet role would be a woman.
Charles Ogletree, a Harvard Law School professor who taught and is said to have mentored President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, made the comments on MSNBC during a segment about Holder, who announced on Thursday that he planned to step down from the Justice Department after six years at its helm.
“I’m not gonna put her name out,” Ogletree said. “We’ll just see what happens, because I don’t want her to not be able to be confirmed by the Senate.”
Just saw this story on FoxNews.com
– and it hits me hard because (A) he’s a little kid and I love little kids and (B) this little kid is the same age and looks very similar to my grandson, who turns 4 next month. An MRI revealed he has an inoperable tumor on his brain stem – the diagnosis gives him only 9 to 12 months to live. His mother has put out a call for prayers via social media and I’m just doing my part to help. There are lots of children with cancer and other terrible diseases and my heart breaks for every one of them. Please send up your prayers for Chad and all the other kids hoping for a miracle. Maher asked Pelosi about recent polling which shows that the GOP is likely to take over the Senate and asked, given gridlock in Washingon, why it matters that Democrats keep control.
“It would be very important for the Democrats to retain control…” Pelosi told Maher. “Civilization as we know it today would be in jeopardy if the Republicans win the Senate.”
Maher asked about voter turnout for Democrats, which he asserted was too low to carry the party in the mid-term.
“Nobody comes about to vote to say ‘thank you,’” Maher said. “The people who get health care now — they’re the people least likely to vote. The people who come out to vote are the angry people.”
“That’s true,” said Pelosi. “Fear is a motivator, and we are not fear-mongers. The Democrats are Messengers of Hope, and that’s what we will continue to be.”
